Our democracy is being torn apart, and people from all walks of life are raising the alarm. On April 6, 1,249 political scientists added their voice in a letter expressing “urgent concern about threats to the basic design of American government and democracy.”¹ The letter notes Trump’s firing of federal prosecutors and agency leaders, his attempts to shift the “power of the purse” away from Congress and toward the White house.

Anti-democracy criminals are being freed while law-abiding people are rounded up and deported. Trump pardoned 1,500 criminals “convicted for their role in the January 6 Capitol insurrection,”² and unleashed ICE on immigrants and citizens.

ICE is a national police force that is being built and trained to attack Americans who oppose the growing dictatorship. Congress ignored this evidence and treasonously granted ICE a $100 billion budget, making it the largest federal police force.³ The Trump administration tells us that ICE will “secure the homeland and keep Americans safe,”⁴ but does anyone doubt that Trump will use ICE to lock up his political opponents? ICE is being groomed to serve as Trump’s Gestapo.

Even though 70% of the American people oppose the genocide in Gazza, the Senate voted to continue arming Israel. On July 30, the Senate voted 24-73 to defeat Bernie Sander’s resolution to block more than $675 million in arms sales to Israel. 23 Democrats, including Chuck Schumer and Corie Booker, joined the Republicans to continue the Biden/Trump alliance with Israel, arming and supporting genocide in Gaza.

The U.S. government is not heeding the desires of the American people because they have plans for Gaza. The plan was exposed by two ministers from the Israeli government who announced that when the shooting stops, all the remaining Gazans will be removed to make way for housing, hotels and an international trade zone!⁵

The goal is to turn the public land of the people of Gaza into private property to enrich the already super-rich capitalists. This is nothing new, the U.S. government did the same thing to Native Americans.

This thinking from the Israeli government supports the class agenda of Trump and the Democrats. These politicians are agents for the capitalist class, the 1 percent that profit at our expense. They support the Israeli government’s plan to keep killing Gazans while fantasizing about future investment returns.

We can stop the destruction of democracy in the U.S. and the genocide in Gaza! We can stop ICE!

It is a matter of simple arithmetic. We are the 99 percent who are forced to work for a living, or face massive debt, homelessness or are not allowed to work at all. We can replace the 1 percent if we join together to fight for the common good. We need to form a political party that represents us, the 99 percent. Only by winning political power can we begin to build the beautiful future that is technologically feasible for everyone.⁶
