Minnesota in Unity against ICE
Twin City Resistance:
Building a New World in Minnesota
Update: No to Homan, Withdrawal is not enough, Abolish ICE !
Today, White House border Czar Tom Homan announced that he is withdrawing 700 ICE thugs from Minneapolis. This means that over 2,000 fascist storm troopers will be left to continue the terror campaign.
THIS IS NOT ENOUGH!
We know that the fascists are not giving up.
We know that this is a trick to reduce the level of our resistance.
We know that they plan to be back.
We know that they are continuing their attacks all over the country, spreading their fear to Maine, Ohio, and to your neighborhood.
WE NEED TO ABOLISH ICE.
WE NEED TO ARREST ICE leadership and agents who have murdered, assaulted, and kidnapped our neighbors
On December 1st, the President sent 3,000 ICE thugs to occupy Minnesota. The thugs proceeded to attack people’s homes, schools, and workplaces, and shot three law-abiding citizens, killing Alex Pretty and Renee Good. The President’s intention was to stir up hostility between citizens and immigrants. Instead, Minnesotans united in defense of human rights. They demonstrate that peace, justice, and mercy can thrive in the face of violent state provocation.
Minnesota Journalist Sarah Jaffe believes that “People are saying my neighbors are important – as important as my family – and I will take risks to protect them, even though I don’t know them and they’re complete strangers.”1
Minnesotans started manufacturing “ICE whistles” on 3D printers, making them freely available at a local toy store.2 Volunteers with whistles are watching restaurants so that people can work safely.3
On January 25, the day after Alex Pretti was killed, café owner Dylan Alverson stopped charging customers, asking only for donations. “I realized that they weren’t going to stop killing our citizens and saw the aggression and violence of the border patrol, and it just shook me,” Alverson said. “I couldn’t go back to work the next day like normal.”4
The ICE attack on Minnesota is part of a worldwide attack of the 1% on the 99%. The 1% can no longer offer employment to the vast majority of people, those of us who depend on work. Employment is being obliterated by artificial intelligence and other technologies, so the 1% is turning to brute force to sustain its monopoly on state power. This is made clear in Gaza, where the Israeli Defense Forces continue to use American arms to attack a defenseless population that it cannot and does not want to employ.
Minnesota proves that we can build a new world where everyone has what they need and looks out for each other. If we join together for the common good, we have a beautiful world to win.
