It’s time to go Fly a Kite

Like an unchecked cancer, the Israeli-U.S. genocide and ethnic cleansing of the Palestinian people continues to grow. The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) currently control 70% of Gaza¹ and have murdered more than 74,000 people and injured 174,000.² The IDF has damaged or destroyed about 82 per cent of the homes, schools, hospitals and structures in Gaza.³ The tragedy increases each day as the IDF continues to bomb and shell Gaza.

The goal of the Israeli-U.S. genocide is to erase an entire people – the children of Gaza are a major target.

The number of children killed in this genocide is calculated as over 20,000,² but this is only a fraction of the real number. Over 479,000 children have perished in Gaza, with the majority dying from malnutrition, lack of medical care, poor sanitation, flooding, and freezing temperatures.⁴

The Israeli government has now taken the attack on children to an absurd level – they have banned the flying of kites!⁵ Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu threatened to kill children who fly kites and the Israeli Defense Minister warned he would act “forcefully” and apply a “zero tolerance” policy, treating kites the same as drones.⁵

This is our fight. The attacks on the children of Gaza are part of the same assault on our children’s health care, education, and future. Like the people of Gaza, Lebanon, Iran, and the West Bank, the American people are fighting because we have no choice.

We have the same enemy. We are not fighting individuals; we are fighting an economic system based upon private property and the class that benefits from that system. Only a united working class can stop the Middle East wars and create a just peace. This is the message that revolutionaries must carry to the American people.
