Running Government like a Corporation? This is what it looks like…

“of the people, by the people, for the people” (Abraham Lincoln): The US government is supposed to serve the American people. It is supposed to ensure that we have housing and healthcare, that the air we breathe and the water we drink are safe, that our children have future and that everyone in our country is safe and able to live a full and productive life. The US government is not supposed to make money for billionaires, but corporations are running the US government. Billionaires sit on top of a pyramid of corporations and have hired Trump to make sure that their corporations make maximum private profit. To do this, the ruling class is running the government like a corporation, which means that whatever is public property will become private property.

This is what running our government like a corporation looks like…

— Laying off 220,000 federal workers and counting

— Abolishing controls on corruption and environmental pollution

— Eliminating or reducing Social Security, and Medicare for 70 million people

— Giving these “savings” to billionaires and their corporations

— Creating the conditions for an economic collapse like 2008

— Crippling the ability of government to assist people in the face of escalating climate crisis

Making Money Off of Weather.

Trump/Musk has massively cut back National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration. This government service informs people about dangerous weather conditions. Getting rid of Free Speech.

Running government like a corporation has other consequences as well. Freedom of Speech in the US applies only to the public. Freedom of Speech is illegal inside a corporation. Try telling the boss what you think and you will quickly find out.

Corporate Dictatorship

We are already seeing the corporate control of government turn into a corporate dictatorship as free speech is abolished. Protest genocide in Palestine? Go to jail. Discuss systemic racism in school? You’re fired and your school or university will lose federal financial support. Raise the importance of equal rights for African-Americans, LGBTQ+ folks and other marginalized groups? You are driven out! Feed the homeless? Face house arrest!

Personal Wealth and Personal Property

This is what it looks like when parasitic, extractive capitalism comes for your personal wealth and personal property. Donald Trump and Elon Musk are front-men who are doing a job for the ruling class of capitalist investors. They are telling us that their private property is going to abolish your public property in government and whatever personal property you have saved over your lifetime. Personal property is what each of uses every day. You know, the stuff you must give up when medical bills take your house, your car, your personal belongings.

We Have Never been Here Before.

Trump and Musk have broken the government. We can’t go back. The only way forward is to establish a government that puts people before profits.

The Solution is Public Property.

The only solution is for public property to take over their private property. This is the only way to restore and expand our personal property and force government to guarantee the basic human needs of us all.
