ENOUGH IS ENOUGH

It is time for the Gun Industry to Go

On Thursday, April 17, a 20-year-old student open fire on the FSU campus killing 2 and wounding 6.^1,2 This was the 81^st mass shooting in the US this year and the 6^th in Florida – almost 1 mass shooting a day.³ According to the Gun Violence Archive, as of April 17, 2025, 4,064 people have died, including 72 children and 276 teens and 6,901 people have been injured, including 119 children and 693 teens.³

Democrats and Republicans Response:

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis is “praying for the FSU community” and vowing justice.² The hearts of the Florida Democratic Party are “heavy” as they grieve with the victims and families.⁴ Trump said the shooting was “a horrible thing” but reiterated his commitment to protecting the Second Amendment. “The gun doesn’t do the shooting, the people do.”²

The Democrats and Republicans are cowards. They propose legislation that will never pass. Why, because they are bought and sold by the gun industry.

But the Gun industry does not Own Us!

We can stop gun violence by taking the profit out guns.

This $21 billion dollar industry makes money off of a social crisis that they create. We are supposed to accept the fact that is completely legal for them to put private profit over the lives of our children!

We can take profit out of guns by taking over, nationalizing, the arms industry.

We can take over the private property used to enrich a few. As the new owners, we can stop the production of assault weapons and automatic hand guns, seize the assets of the owners and use the money to compensate gun violence victims. As the new owners we can end the production of bombs, missiles and the weapons of war, whose only use is to destroy and kill.

We are told that regulating corporations is simply out of the question.

That is what tobacco companies tell us to defend marketing cigarettes to children. That’s what the oil companies tell us about Global Warming. We will just have to accept it, because you the people are not allowed to go against corporations.
