Standing Up to ICE Terror
LA is only the Beginning
LA Rebellion against ICE Terror.
As of Monday, June 9, thousands of people are continuing their struggle against ICE terror. They are in the streets protesting Trump’s use of ICE to deport their neighbors, friends and co-workers. We are no longer fooled by the lie that ICE is deporting “heinous criminals”, everyone can see that deporting children and working people is really an attack on everyone.
ICE Terror and Fascism.
By deploying the national guard and threatening to use Marines, Trump is attempting to provoke chaos in order to justify imposing martial law. He already claims the power to disappear people without due process. Trump is deliberately escalating the situation. The goal is not to deport every immigrant. Rather it is to build a mass popular base in support of fascism.
Trump’s call for “Peace through Strength”.
The staple of fascists since Hitler, is meant to deliver the message, “Americans have no more right to peaceful assembly.”
But We will not be Frightened into Silence!
LA is not Alone. ….Protests against ICE and direct actions to prevent ICE kidnappings are happening all over the country – San Diego, New York City, Minneapolis, Houston, San Antonio, San Francisco, ….. The movement is moving from spontaneous reaction to organized resistance. The National Protest, “No Kings Day” is just 5 days away.
ICE Protests and the George Floyd Rebellion.
In 2020, the American people respond to the murders of George Floyd and Breonna Taylor with 7,500 demonstrations. We took to the streets to fight police brutality and racially motivated violence against black people. Now we are fighting the uniting of police brutality with ICE terror against immigrant workers.
Fascism physically Attacks one section of the Working Class in order to control the rest of the Working Class.
ICE Terror and Genocide in GAZA – two sides of the same coin.
Will the Democrats stop ICE? NO!
Instead, the Democratic governor of California, Gavin Newsom, is attempting to turn our fight to block fascism into building the Democratic Party. This is the same person who made it a crime for houseless people to sleep or camp. Newsom has not condemned deportations or ICE raids, he only objects to how they are carried out. He does support LA PD actions to back up the raids and attack protestors. LA PD has already declared downtown LA as a “no assembly zone.”
To stop ICE Terror, we need to Stop the Rise of Fascism.
Defeating fascism requires destroying its roots, the capitalist system. A system that prioritizes billionaires who feast off private profits, while denying the basic human rights that we all need to survive.
This moment in history raises the question “how to Win Political Power.”
The spontaneous resistance to the rise of fascism calls on revolutionaries to go deeper. Today, the debate over how to fight and win means we must address the issue of seizing state power and eliminating private property. Only then can we build the society we all need.
Right now, Fascism has the tactical initiative and can provoke reactions to suit their needs. But they have lost the power to control the political debate. This is why they double down on State violence.
Most Americans do not buy their line and are questioning whether we are dealing with bad people or a bad system, where the status quo increasingly means death. This debate is surging this week as we all prepare for “No Kings Day.”
This debate can identify the means to awaken the working class to its self-interest in stopping ICE terror and the genocide in Palestine. This will strengthen the building of a political force that defends immigrant rights.
“An injury to one is an injury to all” is the only winning strategy for preventing the chains of fascism from being fastened onto our country.
“We stand at a historic juncture. Millions of Americans are protesting across the nation every week against the Trump administration’s turn to fascism – and the rapid elimination of human labor by digital automation that is driving it. These protests are creating a political crisis that the working class will have to fight to influence. Workers have a choice: either save the private property system and allow humanity to be destroyed or save humanity and the planet by destroying the profit system. Workers can begin to win when they coalesce into a social force to support each other’s struggles for basic needs and for justice.”2
