Mamdani Wins Democratic Party Primary Election in New York

Zohran Mamdani Wins

Democratic Party Primary Election

Working New Yorkers Stand Up !

On June 24 Democratic voters elected Zohran Mamdani to be their candidate for Mayor. Mamdani’s program recognizes that the city is run by billionaires and for billionaires. So he promises to level the playing field.

Mamdani’s program calls for affordable housing, affordable food, universal child care, and free city bus service. He will pay for this by taxing the rich.1

The billionaires gave Andrew Cuomo $25 million to run against Mamdani. Cuomo lost, but the billionaires are not giving up. They will try to stop Mamdani from winning the general election. Mamdani will need united support to finally win the Mayor’s race on November 4.

During the campaign Mamdani told Israel to stop its genocide in Palestine. For this reason he has come under attack from the U.S. Israel lobby.2 This lobby has strong ties to the fascists.

The battle for working-class power goes through campaigns like the Mamdani campaign. The working-class is the majority, and the tiny 1 percent capitalist class is attempting to establish a fascist state to stop Mamdani and guarantee its power over everyone.

This moment in history raises the question  “how to win political power?”

Our country and the world stand at a crossroads. Humanity has the potential for economic security and abundance. A community of the people, by the people, and for the people, where children can grow in peace, is possible as never before. Or–if we do nothing—we face increasingly unlivable conditions caused by private ownership of the wealth that human labor has created.”3

This story has just begun.
