We fought for what we have and we are not about to give it up to make a few billionaires richer. Stop This Before It’s Too Late!

On July 3 Congress passed Trump’s budget bill that expands ICE’s (Immigration and Customs Enforcement) budget by $100 billion, making it the country’s largest police force.1

The increase expands ICE’s jail capacity to from 50,000 to 100,000. These are private prisons. This is a step towards privatizing the police. One third of current ICE detainees are not charged with a crime. Their only crime is they are workers trying to earn a living.2 Sound familiar?

The Trump administration tells us that ICE will “secure the homeland and keep Americans safe.”3 Does anyone doubt that Trump will use ICE to lock up his political opponents?

Trump persistently menaces our country’s democracy, and now he’s been given more muscle. He threatened to deport Zohran Mamdani, candidate for New York City Mayor.4 During the 2020 campaign he threatened to punish more than 100 perceived enemies.5 After losing the 2016 election he encouraged a group of rioters to attack the Capitol, resulting in five deaths and assaults on 184 police officers.6

Increasing the ICE budget by $100 billion will create a federal Gestapo. Congress has betrayed the country by granting Trump these funds.

In Los Angeles, and across the countries, communities are organizing active community patrols to document and block ICE kidnappings.
