The 1 percent is using Artificial Intelligence (AI) to Cut Jobs and Raise Profits.
The AI Tidal Wave is Hitting!!!
The two biggest U.S. employers – Amazon and Walmart – like to brag that they are “job creators.” That was before they applied AI to their corporate economies.
Last month, Amazon promised to replace 600,000+ workers with robots. Bernie Sanders released his Senate Report – Big Tech’s War on Workers. The committee stated that we can expect to lose 100 million jobs in the next decade.1
Yet even today, before the AI deluge, 80% of Americans do not have enough cash to deal with an emergency.2
Since Trump turned over control of the government to corporate sharks like Palantir and DOGE, millions of federal workers have been furloughed or replaced. Silicon Valley is laying off tens of thousands of software workers, to be replaced by AI.
The class that lives from rent, dividends, and interest, rather than having to work to live, in simple terms, the capitalist class, is building a new economy without us, right before our eyes!!
Billionaires as private individuals claim the power to make decisions that affect us all, from the economy to Nature itself. This legal power must be abolished!
Yet today, humans are often still cheaper to employ than robots. A 1965 NASA report stated that “Man is the lowest-cost, 150-pound, nonlinear, all-purpose computer system which can be mass-produced by unskilled labor.”3
Top AI engineers – in Silicon Valley and elsewhere — pull in millions while AI replaces the rest who do the grunt work. Those expelled report that AI doesn’t merely replace their labor. It creates a Gig economy where most jobs are farmed out for contract work, rather than steady employment.
Gig Jobs at best is the future for labor in whatever jobs will be left…what the 1 percent coldly call “Meat-bots”.
Cuts this past weekend to SNAP, the food assistance program, mean that 42 million people will get less than the usual paltry $1.87 per meal,16 million are children.
It doesn’t have to be this way. When Trump invaded American cities with ICE, entire communities began to rally together to protect their friends and neighbors. They want to make all our communities safe, safe from ICE, safe from hunger. We all know what our communities need to survive. Now this same energy is beginning to organize support for the hungry.
The capitalist class believe that they and they alone can make decisions for all of us because they “own” all technology and Nature as private property.
All of us own and need personal property – what we each use every day.
We all use access to health care, education and everything every person needs to thrive and develop. All tools, technologies and natural resources are social property, which should be owned in common by the public for the benefit of us all.
We can and we must put AI to work for the common good. Private property and capitalism are the problem, not technology.
Private property in life sustaining technology is the Achilles heel of corporate predation and billionaire lunatics. It is an idea that no longer works or even makes sense. Private property lurks directly behind every crisis we face. In 1776 we abolished private property of kings. In 1863 we abolished private property in slaves. Today we must abolish private property in technology and put it to work for the common good, serving all humanity. We have to do this because AI will never stop taking our jobs.
We have a beautiful world to win.
