New Years Resolution 2026: Seize Political Power

No Future Under Capitalism:

It’s Time to Seize Political Power

New Years Resolution 2026

I have been living with constant anxiety that I will lose my job even if I got promotions and I am doing great now. Nonstop I hear about layoffs, saturated markets…I do not know how to deal with it, I feel stressed and nervous.”1 A recent post to Reddit from a computer programmer.

The programmer is right to be afraid. Artificial intelligence (AI) has the capability to write code more efficiently than people. Indeed, AI has the capacity to replace half of the work done the by the 99 %, those of us who must work for a living.2

We are all in the same boat. We have no future under capitalism.

This situation is predictable – It’s the way capitalism works. In the 19th Century Karl Marx discovered that capitalism is a self-limiting stage of development because it competes by making things with fewer workers. This works only as long as there is sufficient employment.3 At an advanced stage, the economy will permanently stagnate and self-destruct. This is already happening. Politicians from the Republican and Democratic Parties are attempting to prop up capitalism with foreign wars, tariffs, by blaming immigrants for unemployment, and by claiming that AI can be used to “empower” workers.4

The working class and the capitalist class are at war. This is a fight between those of us who supply the collective labor that produces wealth and the private owners who steal that wealth. This is a battle for the future, for justice, for peace and for the survival of our planet.

In 1776 we won independence from Great Britain. In 1865 we won freedom from enslavement. In 2026 we must defeat the capitalist class by seizing political power at the ballot box and beyond.5

We are the majority, we can do this, we must do this.
