Artificial Intelligence is Destroying Jobs:
End Private Property Now
At a rock concert in Great Britain on May 14, Bruce Springsteen called out President Trump with these words: “…my home, the America I love…is currently in the hands of a corrupt, incompetent and treasonous administration.”1 Trump responded by telling Springsteen to “keep his mouth shut” and threatened to block his re-entry back into America.2 In his response, Trump betrayed his ambition to silence critics.
The Trump administration is working to undermine our right to speak freely. Trump attacked university students across the country for opposing Israel’s genocide in Gaza. Now he’s pressuring universities to sign agreements that forbid criticism of Israeli government policy.3
The Bureau of Labor Statistics reported weak employment growth in May, June and July, undermining Trump’s assertion that tariffs create jobs. Trump fired the report’s author.4
How did we get here, why is our freedom of speech under attack? Because the richest 1 percent know that Artificial Intelligence (AI) is going to devastate employment and destabilize society. The 1 percent is closing ranks by establishing a political system based on violence and tyranny, justified by vague slogans like “make America great again.”
Government funded reports on the effect of AI attempt to disguise the truth with statements such as the following: “We are on the brink of a technological revolution that could jumpstart productivity, boost global growth and raise incomes around the world.”5 However it is known that AI will downsize over half the workforce and that the most exposed workers are those in professional, managerial, clerical, technical, service and sales occupations.6
History shows that the 1 percent use technology to cheapen production costs and lay off workers. After the mechanical cotton harvester was first manufactured in 1949, 5 million black and 7 million white farm workers in the South lost their livelihood.7 Most moved to cities. After robots began to be installed in factories, the percent of workers in manufacturing declined from 29 percent in 1970 to 11 percent in 2020.8 Where will displaced workers go when their jobs are eliminated by AI? The 1 percent are trying to stay in control when unemployment inevitably skyrockets, and the push back begins.
We have the technology to improve the lives of everyone! We need political power to set it into place.
It is a matter of simple arithmetic. We are the 99 percent who are forced to work for a living, or face massive debt, homelessness or are not allowed to work at all. We can replace the 1 percent if we join together to fight for the common good. We need to form a political party that represents us, the 99 percent. Only by winning political power can we begin to build the beautiful future that is technologically feasible for everyone.9
