Capitalism Polluting Planet, Destroying Jobs

We Demand Technology that Benefits People, not Profits!

Why did the federal government decide it’s okay for corporations to pollute the atmosphere with greenhouse gases?

On February 12th, the US Environmental Protection Agency ruled that cars, power plants, and other fossil-fuel-burning facilities are free to pollute. It’s now illegal for the government to fight climate change, and perfectly legal to pump industrial gases into Earth’s thin and fragile atmosphere.1

Because that’s what the auto and power corporations wants no regulations!

Never mind that it will cause an additional 58 thousand premature deaths, 37 million additional asthma attacks, and $1.4 trillion in additional fuel expenses from gas-guzzling cars and trucks.2

It’s profits before Health!

The U.S. ruling class has cruelly polluted Americans for generations.

Cancer Alley in Louisiana and the Houston Ship Channel in Texas are regions with the world’s largest concentrations of petrochemical plants. These plants emit massive toxins into the air and water.3 The result is cancer among children and adults up to 68 times higher than acceptable to normal public health standards.4

Why did a Silicon Valley billionaire cut 300,000 federal jobs yet increase government spending?5

Because Silicon Valley billionaires are turning the federal government into a privately owned property while using artificial intelligence (AI) machines to make profits rather than hiring a labor force.

We need a revolution to ensure that the government works for the people, not for the billionaires.

This means making and using technology that benefits all of society, not the billionaires. Technology is “the application of scientific knowledge for practical purposes, especially in industry, that improves human life.”6

In the hands of capitalists, technology is destructive. It is used for short-term profit, money now – the future be damned.

The result is fire and air pollution destroying the atmosphere, floods ruining coastal and riverside communities, and AI destroying jobs.

In our hands, technology can make our lives richer and more enjoyable.

It can be used to provide housing and food for all, heal diseases, save the environment, and provide meaningful and productive jobs for all.

Our choice is clear: we can sacrifice our lives and the planet on the altar of corporate profit, or we can seize political power and change the course of the world.

We are the majority. We can make this happen. We must make it happen.
