STOP ICE MURDERS

SHUT DOWN THE COUNTRY – GENERAL STRIKE

ICE terror continues. Alex Pretti went to the aid of a woman assaulted by an ICE agent. He was pepper-sprayed, thrown to the ground, beaten and then murdered by the federal thugs. At least 10 shots were fired into Alex Pretti, many of which hit him in the back.¹ This was the second ICE assassination in Minneapolis in 17 days – Rene Nicole Good was shot multiple times and murdered on January 7.

Alex Pretti and Rene Nicole Good were working people as were the other 27 people shot and 8 murdered by ICE thugs in the past year. ² They, like us, are the 99%, and we are all victims of ICE. We are the working class, including all people who have no option but to work to live, or face a precarious existence. We are the people who supply the collective labor that produces wealth. The wealth that is stolen by the capitalist class, the 1%, that owns the means of production, AI, the media, factories, banks, mines, etc. ICE works for the 1% of the population.

We are at war with the capitalists. Our lives, the lives of our children, and the survival of the planet are at stake. We are fighting all over the country for justice, health care, housing, peace, and a future for our children.

The battles in Minneapolis are part of this nationwide fight for justice. All across our country, from Maine to Washington, DC, to North Carolina, to New Orleans, to Minnesota, to California, to Oregon, we are at war with a government that works for the 1%.

The American people are learning how to fight against repression – from blowing whistles, to ICE monitoring, to escorting students, to shopping, to every other show of support for our brothers and sisters under attack. Alex Pretti and Rene Nicole Good were murdered because they were defending other working people. This is what working people do; this is what we must do.

The small separate streams of resistance to fascism and their ICE storm troopers are growing community by community and slowly merging into a national force.

How do we go forward? ICE Out Day. On Friday, January 23, over 50 thousand Minnesotans stopped work and went into the streets to fight ICE terror. According to the Minnesota Reformer, “Life stood still Friday for many Minnesotans. Over 700 businesses closed Friday to support the ICE Out day.”³ The ICE Out website stated that “It is time to suspend the normal order of business to demand immediate cessation of ICE actions in MN, accountability for federal agents who have caused loss of life and abuse to Minnesota residents.”³

The fight in Minneapolis is a nationwide fight for justice. We cannot win this fight in one place at a time.

NOW IS THE TIME TO SPREAD THE STRIKE

TO ORGANIZE A NATIONAL GENERAL STRIKE AGAINST ICE!

We cannot depend upon the Democrats, who, like the Republicans, work for the 1% of the population. The 99% must have its own political party. A party that can lead a revolution and build a world based on cooperation, where everyone has what they need and looks out for each other. If we join together to fight for the common good, we have a beautiful world to win.

In December 2024, Alex Pretti gave a tribute to a veteran who died from lung cancer at a VA hospital in Minneapolis. He said, “Today we remember that freedom is not free. We have to work at it, nurture it, protect it, and even sacrifice for it. May we never forget and always remember our brothers and sisters who have served so that we may enjoy the gift of freedom.”⁴
