War is a Racket
AND WE’RE GETTING SCREWED
I was filling up my car yesterday and getting pissed at the price of gas. Then I learned that the BIG OIL companies are making BILLIONS OF DOLLARS off of the war on Iran.1,2 In the last three months: ExxonMobile made $14.5 billion in profit, Chevron made $12.1 billion,
Shell made $9.6 billion, BP made $5.7 billion and Saudi Aramco made $32.7 billion.
The world’s top 100 oil and gas companies are making more than $30 million in extra profit every hour.3 As one oil executive put it, “these companies are printing money.”2
The Iran war has cost us more than $76 billion in the form of higher gasoline and diesel prices.2 And it is not only the oil companies, big banks and arms manufacturers are also making record profits. While we are getting screwed every time we go to the market, buy cloths and supplies for the new school year, get our medications or just try have some fun.

Major General Butler served in the Maine Corps for 34 years, and retired as the most decorated person in the history of the Marine Corps. He won two Congressional Medals of Honor.5 The first in 1914, for leading the U.S. invasion of Mexico during the Mexican Revolution in order to safeguard U.S. business interests. The second in 1915, for invading Haiti to put down a political revolt and protect American financial interests, which led to a 20-year U.S. occupation of Haiti.
For a great many years, as a soldier, I had a suspicion that war was a racket; not until I retired to civil life did I fully realize it.” “I was a high-class muscle man for Big Business, for Wall Street and the bankers. In short, I was a racketeer, a gangster for capitalism.”4
General Butler was right! War is a racket. A scam to enrich billionaire and trillionaire capitalists at the expense of the working people of the world. The working people of the U.S. have no fight with Iranians, with Palestinians, with the people of Lebanon, Venezuela or Cuba. Yet they are being bombed, murdered, starved and maimed in our name and at our expense.
As Muhammed Ali said when he refused join the Army and fight in Vietnam, “I’m not going 10,000 miles from home to help murder and burn another poor nation simply to continue the domination of white slave masters of the darker people the world over.”5 “I ain’t got no quarrel with those Vietcong.”6

What is clear, if we want to end war, we must end capitalism
We, the working class – all of us who must work to live, whether not we are allowed to have jobs – we are the only ones who can do it.
We are living in revolutionary times. AI has changed the world. Trump and Project 2025 have changed America. We cannot go back to the old system, we cannot reform the government – we must go forward.
We can build a world based on cooperation, where everyone has what they need and looks out for each other. If we join together to fight for the common good, we have a beautiful world to win.
We can do this, we must do this!
