Stop the $200 Billion for WAR on Iran

We have no Dog in this Fight

The Pentagon is asking for an additional $200 billion for the war on Iran. We cannot let this happen! Tell your Congressperson to block this request by any means necessary.

The U.S. war on Iran. Seventy-three years ago, British and American secret police (CIA/MI6) overthrew Iran’s democratically elected government because it challenged the right of a British oil company to exploit the nation’s energy reserves.¹ Iranian Prime Minister Mosaddegh wanted to use his country’s oil and gas for the benefit of the Iranian people, and was forced out of office for trying to make good on his promise to do so.

The war on Iran by the Israeli and U.S. governments continues this struggle over who owns Iran’s energy – international corporations or the Iranian people. The workers in Iran and the U.S. have no dog in this fight. The war is being fought for the benefit of the richest 1 percent, the capitalist class, who are hoping to bring Iran’s fossil fuel reserves back under Western control.

The war on Iran, like other wars under capitalism, is being fought by poor and working people. As in Gaza, the Ukraine, Lebanon, Sudan and Yemen, the main victims are civilians. The working class, the 99%, are being used to murder their sisters, brothers and the children of the world for the benefit of the 1%. Working people are being used to destroy homes, schools, hospitals and to starve people whose only crime is to have something that the capitalists want.

Even though the American people do not support the war on Iran, we are paying for it! The war is costing U.S. taxpayers $2.1 billion per day.² Money that could be used for jobs, healthcare, housing and education. Now, the Pentagon is requesting $200 billion more to fund the war.³ Tax dollars to fund three more months of a war that serves no purpose other than enriching arms manufacturers and energy traders.

ENOUGH IS ENOUGH! We have the power to stop this war. We are the 99 percent who must work to survive. Our unity will win peace, justice, and equality, if we build it step by step.

Fight for the “Block the Bombs Act”. Tell your federal representatives to vote against sending Israel the bombs that are being used in Gaza, Lebanon and Iran. The “Block the Bombs Act” (HR3565) stops arms deliveries from the U.S. to Israel. It has gained support from the United Auto Workers (UAW), the Association of Flight Attendants (AFA-CWA), the National Education Association (NEA), the International Union of Painters and Allied Trades (IUPAT) and the United Electrical Workers (UE). You can send letters to your federal representatives asking them to sign on to the bill and for their support.⁴

The war makers are playing with our lives. We must stop their war before it gets out of hand. There is no justification for the mass bombing civilian populations that the war makers justify with lies and deceit. We, the 99 percent, can call them out for who they are, destroyers, murderers, liars, thieves and promoters of ecocide.
