Attack on the Working Class
On July 16th, Trump went on National TV to announce his intention to destroy what is left of American democracy by intimidating and criminalizing those who would vote against him. Since only one in three Americans approves of Trump, he is moving to overthrow majority rule, the most basic principle of democracy.1
Trump intends to turn majority rule into billionaire rule. This is fascist government, the right of the powerful to dictate to the majority, exemplified by the right of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents to murder workers, immigrant and citizen alike. This is the merger of corporations with the State – the official organizations of force: police, ICE, judges, the prison system, and violent State terror.
The 100 richest oil companies in 2026 expect to make $234 billion in excess profits thanks to the War on Iran.2 Defense contractor Lockheed Martin’s profits rose to $75 billion in 2025.3 Trump associate Elon Musk became the world’s first trillionaire in 2026. The richest 1% are profiting from wars in the Middle East and continue their efforts to change our government to more effectively guarantee their obscene wealth.
Heat and smoke from fossil fuel-caused climate change are billowing over 110 million people in Canada and the U.S., while the U.S. rains bombs and missiles on Iran in a war to guarantee cheap oil.4 The U.S. government’s war against Iran is not about the oil itself, but the idea that wealth created by the oil can be owned by the people of Iran and not by a small elite.
The working class must have its own voice to build a world where wealth is publicly controlled and divided equally among the peoples of the world, where war, genocide, and ecocide are relics of the past. We are the majority, and we can choose our future. We must do this before fascism takes hold and tries to silence our voice. Fascism is the last desperate gasp of the ruling class effort to control us and our country. We can fight and win…but we have to learn to fight smart with aggressive class politics.
