U.S. Resumes Bombing Iran

Our Government is Killing Children

The U.S. launches new strikes on Iran. This is what it sounds like when Iranian children call for help amid bombings.1

The Shajareh Tayyebeh girls’ elementary school in Minab, Iran, was one of the first targets bombed by U.S. forces.2 Over 150 people, including 120 children, died in this attack, and no one has been charged with this war crime. In the 4 months since the beginning of the U.S.-Israel war on the Iranian, 3,468 people, including 210 children, have been murdered.3

Memorial for the children of Shajareh Tayyebeh girls’ elementary school in Minab, Iran. “What we do know is this: the U.S. military was responsible for killing over 150 people in an attack with precision-guided Tomahawk missiles on a school packed with children.” Source reference 2.

The Gaza-style genocide is spreading throughout the Middle East. As a United Nations commission proved, Palestinian children have been deliberately targeted and killed by the Israeli security forces.”4

More than 21,000 children have been killed, and over 80% of the children of Gaza (800,000) have been displaced.5 But the real number of children who have perished during this genocide is much greater. More than 479,000 children have perished in Gaza, with the majority dying from malnutrition, lack of medical care, poor sanitation, flooding, and freezing temperatures.6 In Lebanon, 253 children were killed and 1,036 injured during the 122 days since the March 2nd Israeli invasion – representing 12 children killed or maimed every day.7

This is what the U.S. government is planning to bring to Iran.

Why is the U.S. attacking Iran? It is not the oil; it is who owns the oil.8 Seventy-three years ago, British and American secret police (CIA/MI6) overthrew Iran’s democratically elected government because it challenged the right of a British oil company to exploit the nation’s energy reserves.8 The war on Iran by the U.S. government continues the fight over who owns Iran’s energy – international corporations or the Iranian people.

The war on Iran is being fought for the benefit of the richest 1 percent, the capitalist-class, and they are making a boatload of money.9 Defense contractors, oil companies, and all of the sectors of the military-industrial complex are getting richer.9 Especially the banks – on July 14, J.P. Morgan Chase, Goldman Sachs, and the rest of the major financial company criminals reported record earnings10

The war on Iran, like other wars under capitalism, is being fought by the working-class. As in Gaza, Lebanon, Sudan, and Yemen, the main victims are children. The working class, the 99%, are being used to murder their sisters, brothers, and the children of the world for the benefit of the 1%. Working people are being used to destroy homes, schools, hospitals, and to starve people whose only crime is to have something that the capitalists want.

The war on Iran, like other wars under capitalism, is being paid for by the working-class. The war has cost the American people over $132 billion.11,12 Money that could be used for jobs, healthcare, housing, and education. Now, Trump is requesting $87 billion more to fund the war.12

ENOUGH IS ENOUGH! We have the power to stop this war. We are the working-class, the 99 percent who must work to survive. Our unity will win peace, justice, and equality if we build it step by step.

One place to start is to demand that Congress refuse to spend another penny for the wars on Gaza, Lebanon, and Iran. No to the $87 billion. Yes, to the passage of the “Block the Bombs Act” (HR3565), which stops arms deliveries from the U.S. to Israel.13 You can send letters to your federal representatives asking them to sign on to the bill and for their support.13

The war makers are playing with our lives, our children’s lives and the survival of the world. There is no justification for the systematic murder of children or for the mass bombings and destruction of civilian populations. We, the working-class, the 99 percent, can call them out for who they are: destroyers, murderers, liars, and thieves.
